Apogee to Manage Part of FSU's ResNet, Becomes "Preferred Member" of FSU Networking Community

AUSTIN (August 23, 2004) - Apogee, a technology company and Internet Service Provider that specializes in providing managed residential network services to higher education, announced today that it has reached an agreement with Florida State University to manage the ResNet for the recently built Heritage Grove residential complex, a private residential complex, recently built on state owned property.

In addition, Apogee will become a "preferred member of the FSU Networking Community" for the purpose of creating a secure, broadband connection for students, staff and faculty who live off-campus to connect to the FSU network. Apogee will begin offering its broadband services this fall at apartment and off-campus dormitories in the greater Tallahassee area.

"We're very excited to be working with Florida State University," said Charles Brady, the CEO of Apogee. "We were selected from a group of vendors because of our ability to meet the needs of FSU as well as its students, staff and faculty."

Heritage Grove is a 37-acre mini-campus, where more than 600 FSU students will live this fall. The property was the product of a joint venture between FSU and Capstone, one of the largest student housing builders and operators in the country. Apogee will offer the student-residents a variety of service levels designed to meet their individual needs. The company is also providing wireless connectivity in the selected areas.

"As the official provider of off-campus connectivity at the University of Texas at Austin, we?ve learned that students will select a service based on their needs," said Brady. "Those students who use their connection for email and occasional web-surfing will find the basic service more than adequate for their needs. Those students who have come to rely on the Internet as a tool to enhance their education will likely upgrade their service."

Brady went on to state that apartment owners in Austin benefited from customized incentive packages directed at increasing the apartment?s net operating income.
