College Students Experience Wall-to-Wall Wireless at University Towers

AUSTIN (TX) - - (October 13, 2005) Continuing its practice of responding immediately to the needs of today's college students, Apogee announced that it has successfully installed wall-to-wall wireless Internet connectivity at University Towers (www.universitytowers.com).

Apogee CEO and Founder Chuck Brady said that more such projects will follow as colleges and universities recognize the importance of installing a comprehensive and reliable wireless network in their on-campus dorms.

"College students arrive on campus these days with a laptop, not a desktop," said Brady, whose company services approximately 10,000 college students in five states. "They expect to be able to connect to the Internet anywhere, anytime. Moreover, some colleges require that students purchase laptops capable of specific academic programs.

"The challenge for colleges and universities is that there is, and will continue to be, a significant cost associated with building such networks. Increasingly, schools are deciding that facilitating their students' access to the Internet is not in line with their core mission of educating students."

That's where Apogee comes in, according to Ugene Olson, General Manager of University Towers.

"Apogee, which has been providing Internet connectivity to our students for five years, was able to build a network at limited cost to us," said Olson. "I know our students have been excited about being able to connect from anywhere in the building."
