Apogee Adds Partnerships to Growing Network

AUSTIN - September 17, 2009

Apogee, Inc. announced today that it has expanded its network of schools through partnerships with the University of Kansas, Alfred University and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Under the agreements, students on all three campuses will now have access to Apogee's full suite of digital television services, including high definition and premium channels, custom on-screen channel guides and local campus information channels.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will also deploy a fully integrated Emergency Alert System as a component of their service. In the event that campus-wide notification is needed, the system can be triggered to immediately override programming on all channels with audio alerts and on-screen emergency information.

"We chose Apogee based on the robustness of their channel line-up and the Emergency Alert System, which we see as a key factor to ensure the safety and security of students in our residence halls. The fact that we can take control of all television channels and communicate immediately to our residents is phenomenal," said Linda Stanley, Business Manager at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. "The response from our community has been very positive. It was a huge difference for our residents."

In coming months, UAF will also deploy a multi-channel IPTV system, which will allow students to watch live television over the broadband network on their desktop or laptop computers. The system will feature a campus billboard channel with digital signage and unique log-ins for student groups to post public messages. All IPTV channels will be fully integrated with the Emergency Alert System.

"Apogee has an outstanding reputation because of our ability to deliver integrated broadband, cable and voice services to the Higher Education market," said Chuck Brady, President and CEO of Apogee, Inc. "We're excited that more and more schools are recognizing the value of each component in our converged network and using our solution to position campus infrastructure for future growth."
